Wellhead Equipment & Christmas Trees

Wellhead equipment comprises the critical surface components of an oil, gas, or geothermal well. It provides the structural support and pressure containment needed to suspend downhole casing strings, isolate annular spaces, and safely control the extraction of well fluids.

MPH International Trading Group LLC delivers wellhead and Christmas Tress equipment parts & supplies worldwide.

The wellhead assembly is typically divided into three primary components:

1. Casing Head (or Casing Spool)

    • Function: The base component that connects directly to the surface casing. It supports the weight of intermediate and production casing strings and seals the annular spaces between them.
    • Accessories: Features casing hangers (to hold the pipe) and lockdown screws or seal assemblies to prevent leaks.

2. Tubing Head

    • Function: Installed on top of the casing head, this component suspends the production tubing (the pipe through which fluids are brought to the surface).
    • Accessories: Contains the tubing hanger and seals the annulus between the tubing and the production casing.

3. Christmas Tree

  • Function: A complex assembly of valves, spools, and chokes placed on top of the tubing head. It regulates the flow of oil or gas and allows workers to safely perform maintenance or adjust production rates
  • Key Valves:
    • Master Valves: Used to fully open or shut off the well for safety.
    • Wing Valves: Connect to the flowline leading to production facilities.
    • Choke Valves: Control the rate of flow and well pressure

4. Temporary Equipment

  • Blowout Preventers (BOPs): Heavy-duty valves attached to the wellhead during the drilling phase. They are designed to instantly seal the wellbore and prevent uncontrolled releases of pressure (blowouts)
